Q & A from the webinar for students (18 Dec 25)
  1. Academic Background & Eligibility
The EESIC EMJM is mainly an Environmental Engineering course. A solid background in engineering and related fields is a key requirement for successfully completing the programme. Students with a background in Civil or Environmental Engineering will automatically pass the selection stage that takes into account their previous studies, provided they also meet the other non-academic requirements. The Joint Selection Committee will assess the compatibility of candidates' backgrounds, evaluating not only their academic requirements in terms of credits and exams taken, but also their study, research or work experience related to the programme's topics and objectives. At the application stage, we cannot confirm or deny compatibility of your background; the Committee will do so when it evaluates the applications. If you believe that your background in the broadest sense overlaps with the programme's themes and objectives, our advice is to apply.

  2. English Language Requirements
There are two ways to demonstrate your English language proficiency (at least level B2):
    a) Submit an official certificate that is included in the list of accepted certificates (see Admission)
    b) Submit an official statement from the school/university where you obtained your diploma, bachelor's or master's degree, explicitly stating that the language of instruction is English

The certificate submitted must be valid (ie not expired), otherwise it will not be considered. If you do not have a valid certificate by the application deadline, your application will not be considered, even if you declare that you will obtain one later.

  3. Referees
Minimum Number: you can include up to three referees in your application
Professional vs. academic: your referee can either be in the field of academia (senior/expert professors, supervisors, advisors) or in the work/work-related fields (employer, tutor)
System Notification: as soon as you indicate the name and the contact of your referee(s), an automatic message will be sent to her/him/them to explain the procedure to recommend you as a candidate for the programme. The message will be sent within 24 hours from entering referee details in the application. As a candidate, you only need to make sure your referees will submit the form before the deadline expires.

    Please note that:
    - no Letter of Recommendation will be asked to the referees
    - if you upload a Letter of Recommendation as an optional attachment, it will not be considered
    - you will not receive any notification that the referees successfully managed to submit the recommendation form. Ask directly your referees to be sure they did everything

  4. Application Documents & Technical Details
    - Motivational Video: the presentation video can be uploaded in the form of a Youtube link set in unlisted mode in the related section of the application form (Optional attachments). Guidelines on how to realize the video are provided in the application form and on our website (Admission)
    - CV Format: the Europass format is not a mandatory requirement for the CV. It is simply suggested as a template.
    - GPA and Grades: you are not required to convert your average into a GPA score; you simply indicate your grades and your average within the grading system your university normally uses. The Joint Selection Committee will be responsible for converting the grades and the scores.

  5. Scholarships & Selection Process
    - Scholarship Coverage: The EMJM scholarship will cover the entire duration of the Master programme (max 24 months), and should cover all the programme-related costs, including study, research, annual meetings, placement activities, project work, thesis preparation and defence, etc. in line with the requirement of the joint Master.
    - Interviews: the best 60 candidates will be invited to an online interview in which they will be asked about their background and motivation to join the EESIC programme. Interviews could allow students to obtain additional points for the final ranking.

  6. Program Structure & Logistics
Practical questions about the student experience and post-graduation.
    - Visas: Each EESIC Partner Institution will provide the student with guidance and support to fulfil the national immigration policies and to obtain any necessary visas and stay/study permits in the respective country. However, the decision regarding the issuance of entry visas and residence permits is the exclusive responsibility of the competent authorities.
    - Syllabus: a detailed description of the courses will be provided on the website
