Candidates must include the following mandatory information and attachments:

  • A copy of a valid passport or Identity Card (only pages relating to personal information) (if applicable, as required in the online application)
  • Detailed and complete Curriculum Vitae in English, preferably following the Europass format
  • Copy of the bachelor’s degree if already awarded. If the original document is not issued in English, an official translation is also required
  • Copy of transcript of records of the bachelor’s degree including a list of all courses, credits, exams, grades, the weighted average mark (GPA) and the minimum to maximum range of possible marks at the origin university. If the document is not issued in English, an official translation is also required
  • Certificate attesting English language skills, as described below
  • Motivation statement by answering a fixed set of questions in the online application form (e.g., about the reasons for the application to EESIC, the academic and personal motivation, the relevant background skills and abilities)
  • The name and e-mail address of up to three referees, chosen among current (or former) faculty members or employers or experienced researchers. Reference letters must not be sent by candidates. Referees indicated in the application form will receive an automatic request to submit their reference. It is the candidate’s responsibility to make sure the reference has been correctly submitted

Candidates can submit the following optional attachments:

  • Any certification of additional relevant studies or professional experience or any other relevant merit connected to the programme. If the original document is not issued in English, an official translation is also required
  • Personal video introducing the candidate, explaining her/his background and stating the motivation for pursuing the programme. The video must be uploaded to the application exclusively in the form of a YouTube link. Please note that the video is optional, but may be evaluated with additional points for the final ranking if it meets the requirements and if its content is deemed relevant and pertinent.

The presentation video must follow these guidelines:
  • Maximum allowed time: 2 minutes
Language: English, with at least the following contents:
    - name, surname
    - brief introduction of yourself (study degree, describe briefly the topic of your dissertation and relevant personal experiences)
    - academic reasons on how your university background fits to the EESIC programme
    - personal motivation and expectations
    - other information relevant for the admission process
  • The video must be uploaded to the YouTube platform in unlisted mode (unlisted videos can be seen and shared by anyone with the link). The link to the video must then be uploaded when filling out the on-line application.
  • Practical advice:
    - We recommend that you use a neutral background, such as a single-color wall or bookcase.
    - The frame should include only the upper torso with space above your head. An arm's length from the camera is fine. For portrait format orient the mobile phone or tablet vertically, or for landscape format place it horizontally to record.
    - Pay attention to the lighting and try to avoid shadows on your face.
    - Since the video should last 2 minutes or less, we suggest that you rehearse what you are going to say several times to make sure you finish in no more than 1 minutes and 45 seconds.
    - Once the recording has started, you should silently count to 3 before starting to speak to give the camera’s recording mechanism time to activate.
    - Record the speech two or three times and choose the best version.
    - Remember to look good and smile!
